Getting started

A small tool for less small talk. Ask Slowly is a card deck of 300 real questions, organised into 5 decks — Couples, Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Teammates — each with three depth levels: warm-up, closer, and deep.

Pick someone you care about. Pick a depth. The question does the rest.

No. No email, no phone number, no account. Open the app and start.

Yes. Ask Slowly is free to download with no ads and no tracking. If optional in-app purchases are ever added — for example, additional decks — they will be clearly labelled inside the app.

Yes. The cards live inside the app, so Ask Slowly works on a plane, in the kitchen, on a long drive, or anywhere a phone goes. No internet connection is required, ever.

Using the app

Pick a deck → pick a depth level (warm-up, closer, or deep) → a question appears. Read it aloud, both of you answer, then shuffle for the next one. There's no scoring, no winning, no timer.

The best conversations happen when you give an answer enough room to breathe.

Level 1 — warm-up. Light, observational, easy to answer. Good for getting started or for evenings when you don't want to think too hard.

Level 2 — closer. A step in. Personal but not raw. The kind of question that opens a door.

Level 3 — deep. Tender. Slower. For people you trust and quiet rooms.

Skip it. Some cards open doors that aren't ready to be opened, and that's okay. Ask Slowly is an invitation, not an obligation. Shuffle to the next card — or come back another day. Both are valid.

Yes. Many people use Ask Slowly as a solo reflection prompt — draw one card, sit with it, write your answer down somewhere private. The cards work whether someone is across from you or only the quiet is.

Tap the ⚙ Settings button on the Hub screen and pick Auto (follows your phone), Light, or Dark. Your choice saves to the device.

Privacy & data

None. Ask Slowly has no servers, no analytics, no tracking SDKs. The conversations you have are your own — we never see them because we never receive them.

Full details in the Privacy Notice.

No. Ask Slowly is deliberately designed not to record your spoken answers. The cards are a prompt, not a transcript. If you'd like to keep an answer, write it down somewhere private — a notebook, your Notes app, anywhere you trust.

Press and hold the app icon on your home screen, then tap "Remove App." That removes Ask Slowly and any local state — no extra cleanup required, because nothing was ever sent off your device.

Troubleshooting

Try the usual three: force-quit the app and reopen, restart your phone, then check the App Store for an available update. If the issue persists, send a note with your iOS version and device model — we'll dig in.

Send it. Every question was written by a real person, which means real people can edit it. If a card lands wrong, tell us which one and why — we'll revisit the wording.

Brilliant. Email cheuk.coding@gmail.com with what you saw, what you expected, and a screenshot if it's a bug. Feedback goes straight to the developer.

Always welcome. If you've come across a question that opened something tender or revealing, send it along — which deck, which level, what it asks. Good questions are rare and worth collecting.

Still stuck ·

Just ask. A real person answers.

Ask Slowly is built by one independent developer. No support queue, no auto-replies, no chatbot. Send a note and you'll hear back, usually within a couple of days.
